More C2 photos and testing report..."C2 is really nice and fast down wind, you fly!! This is really safe downwind, if the C2 nosedives then so will everything else" Our French dealer, Francis Ferrari tested the C2 with some top professional sailors and the Wild Cat and Capricorn in 9 to 22 knts. The C2 is proving to be exactly what we set out to achieve. That is much easier to drive downwind and still have the up wind performance of the CAPRICORN. Downwind, compared to the CAPRICORN the crew is not forced into the rear foot strap as soon, in fact when the crew is in the foot strap on the CAPRICORN the crew on the C2 is only at the rear beam. this means the crew weight can be used for driving leverage instead of trying to hold the bows out. Testing reports have also shown that the balance on the C2 is superb, "the tiller is really light, downwind with 20 knots you can let it go for a few seconds". This is a result of the total redesign of the rig and foil configuration. It may not be obvious changes but these things are only a matter of millimeters.

AHPC new Formula 18 will be called the C2. The new name has been chosen and most of the details finalized leading up to the Paris Boat show. Greg himself will be in attendance to answer any questions about the boat and the design process.

Martín Vanzulli from Catamaran Sailing, News and Design had a few questions about the new design for co-designer, Brett Goodall. Full interview is here.

AHPC are proud to release the first images of the newest prototype in the race for Formula 18 supremacy. With over 30 years of catamaran design experience and the latest in design software, we have combined knowledge from our CAPRICORN, VIPER and many other designs.
The new bow shape improves the flow and volume in the front section of the hull, while utilizing the maximum possible water line length. The main beam is further back, meaning it has more bow than another F18 on the market. This, in addition to the increased bow buoyancy will result great downwind speed and stability. The square transom and raised rear beam are designed to decrease beam slap and increase large wave handling.
We will be carrying over the mast and beam sections from the CAPRICORN. The rig will be a fully optimized and developed Goodall rig (all dimensions pushed to the class limits). We will also be changing to Carbon finished centerboards and rudders.
There are a handful of other upgrades to be confirmed at the official release at the Paris Boat show in December
