For over 30-years, our Managing Director, Greg Goodall, has been sailing and developing championship winning boats. AHPC’s A-Class ‘Auscat’ has won 14 World Championships and numerous major titles throughout Australia, Europe and North America.
Our tough ‘CoreStrength’ hulls are designed for strength and speed by Martin Fischer PhD, a world-renowned geophysical fluid dynamics expert and computer scientist. Martin has applied his in-depth knowledge of water flow and computer software to hull forms and foils. They look astounding and perform brilliantly. Amongst his many accomplishments, Martin is a member of the design team for the French trimarans Groupama 2 & 3. Groupama-2, a 60ft racing tri is currently devastating the 60-ft ORMA class. Groupama-3, a 105ft racing tri, currently under construction, is aiming to win the Jules Vernes Trophy, round the world record. Interestingly, these projects, including Capricorn, are reciprocating technology and experiences.
Jim Boyer needs little introduction to world sailing as his boat building skills are legendary. With comments like, “How could you possibly build a cat so light and still hold together”, his secrets remain his own. Jim’s foils have to be seen to be fully appreciated. They’re strong, stiff, ultra light, (1.7kg for an A-Class or Taipan rudder and stock assembly) beautifully finished and work as finely tuned ‘instruments’.
Every aspect of an AHPC product is exact. For example, assembly tolerances of beams to hulls are .05mm and our sail makers willingly work within half a pencil line – consistently.

For example, we see your rig as a complete system. Greg is a world pioneer in wing mast and square-top sail design. The ‘ProWing’ mast section is Greg’s own design and this unique profile is only available on AHPC boats. Coupled with a Goodall square-top main, you have an integrated aerodynamic mast and sail combination, which generates more power, lift and speed.
The helm on our boats is remarkable for its feel and quick response. It’s so light and balanced we call it ‘FingerPrint,’ because that’s the impression of effort needed to steer.
Our ‘TruSteer’ parabolic rudder blades accelerate tacking, minimise ventilation, eliminate cavitation and reduce drag to a minimum. Then there’s ‘SmartLock’, our rudder lock down/auto release system that’s proven reliable and foolproof. And the very stiff, lightweight ‘HiLift’ centreboards that increase lift to windward and are raised by a fast, single cord operating system.
Importantly, all AHPC models are available with our centre mainsheet option. Called ‘MainTamer’ our system gives you or your crew better sheeting angles and more control with less effort. And it’s faster for quicker tacking.
Mast rotation and downhaul controls from ‘on-the-wire’ are a must have, and standard fitment throughout our range.
